EARTH DAY CELEBRATION

Is Our Food Supply Sustainable?

Sunday April 22nd, @ 1:00pm

Bay Ridge United Methodist Church is proud to celebrate Earth Day on Sunday April 22nd with the screening of the film “Fresh” followed by a panel discussion about food security.  Fresh asks the question: how do we develop a reasonably priced yet sustainable food supply.  It features Michael Pollan, author of Omnivore’s Dilemma, Joel Salatin owner of Polyface Farm, Will Allen, from Growing Power Farm in Milwaukee, Andrew Kimbrell of the Center for Food Safety.  As Pollan says, “when we say monoculture farming isn’t sustainable, that means it won’t last”.   What will replace it? Come and find out!

Confirmed panelists are Councilmember Rafael Espinal, Ryan Lynch, Director of Policy for Boro President Eric Adams and Keith Carr from City Harvest.
